When these findings are viewed as a whole, the conclusion is reached that more and more mental abnormalities are being found to arise from dysfunction of the frontal lobes or the interconnections of the frontal lobes with other subcortical areas. Though scientists have developed many sophisticated noninvasive techniques for viewing frontal lobe activity both in healthy and impaired individuals, our standardized neurpsychological tools are still quite crude and fall short in measuring the more sophisticated abilities which clinical evidence has shown that the frontal lobes support. The issue of the long-term effects of chronic drug and alcohol use on the frontal lobes is briefly discussed. Our knowledge concerning the frontal lobes is still quite rudimentary, however, a full understanding of this complex area may open the possibility of finding true cures or preventive measures for many types of mental disease.}, pages = {147--170}, title = {A Review of Recent Evidence Concerning the Functions of the Human Frontal Cortex}, volume = {29}, year = {1994}, yomi = {ニシオ, メリー} }
