The stabilizers contained in all kinds control mechanical properties of R-PVC. Sn and Pb compounds were chosen as the stabilizer to examine, because their effects on deformation behavior of R-PVC are extremely opposite to each other. In less than 10 degree rake angle tool cutting, every kind of R-PVC tested here including a special kind of R-PVC with filler CaCO_3 generated periodical irregularities on machined surfaces over critical cutting speeds. R-PVC with lower softening temperature had lower critical cutting speeds, independent of kind of stabilizer. Polypropylene cutting offered the same kind of irregularities over critical cutting speeds in less than 20 degree rake angle tool cutting.
